Many folks find romance with the help of Internet dating sites.
There are also some folks out there that are just Dating for Dollar$.
A 66-year-old Ocala woman fishing for romance on a popular cyber dating site met a land shark.
The man's pitch after a lot of wooing: “I’m a contractor who is in the process of building a bridge in Malaysia and I need money to start the project," according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
As their cyber life -- which should never be confused with real time life -- continued to mesh together, the woman told detectives she wired $50,000 to the 'contractor' to help with the “building project,” according to the Sheriff's Office.
In other words, the woman lost $50,000.
Remember, if something looks too good to be true, then it is most likely some form of a scam. If a potential scammer has made contact with you, log onto ICE3, the Internet Crime Complaint Center. If you’ve been a victim of a scam, call your local police.
Don't be a stupid cupid.
Make sure that special person in your life is aiming to steal your heart and not your wallet.
