NIGERIAN POLICE EXTORT MONEY FROM CYBERCAFE OPERATORS OVER 419 SCAMS
Members of the Nigeria Police now extort money from cybercafe operators in the guise of carrying out surveillance on their activities. Investigations by PMNews revealed that policemen, mostly in mufti, visit cybercafes unannounced, during which they arrest customers and operators of cybercafe indiscriminately, accusing them of aiding 419ners.
PMNews learnt that those arrested are at times asked by the police officers to ‘settle them’ instantly or be taken to the police station where they are compelled to pay between N3000 and N5000.Some of the cybercafe operators who spoke with PMNews, complained bitterly that the police are really "killing" their business.
A cybercafe operator in Surulere area of Lagos State told PMNews that his cafe had been raided three times."Each time they come, I do part with not less than N10,000 depending on the number of people arrested" he noted. While appealing to the Inspector-General of Police to assist in stopping the unnecessary arrest and intimidation, the cyber cafe operators said "we don’t aid or encourage 419ners."

and naive people keep asking naive questions: why are they not arrested? how to catch them? Nobody will arrest them!! They are not going to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
