Jonny Ebert, jonnyebertt@yahoo.com
Hi there - my girlfriend has been chatting with a US millitary guy who's calling himself Jonny Ebert (spelling it with one t but on his email its with a double t). He's been chatting for a month or so now, not asked for money, but has just applied for leave, so the money thing was probably coming...We've tracked him through a Facebook profile where he seems to be calling himself Jonny Rellinger also.

Re: Jonny Ebert jonnyebertt@yahoo.com
This scam is becoming very common, the Scammer will suggest that they want to take leave so they can visit you but in order to take leave they will tell you that you need to apply for leave on their behalf and they will put you in touch with a superior officer to arrange the leave with you (The superior officer will in most cases be the same scammer, if not, it will be his accomplice, either way it will be part of the scam.)
The Person you are directed to will usually send some fake documents and forms for you to fill in and then tell you about a fee that needs to be paid.
This scam goes completely against how leave works in the US military, military leave is little different to most other companies, if an employee is entitled to leave they will apply for it themselves and there is no fee payable, further, the US Military will not allow another person to apply for leave on a soldier's behalf.
If your friend was to pay this fee, the next money request will most likely be in the form of a phone service to allow them to communicate.
The scammer will advise of a phone service (TS2 is one such type of service I have seen in these scams) where there is a one off fee that needs to be paid by the victim which will give the scammer a phone that has extended service areas and free calls which will allow them to talk on the phone.
Again, this is completely false, the US military goes to great lengths to ensure their personnell have access to be able to communicate with their family back home wherever possible, the length of calls and time spent on the phone may well be rationed but there will be access to be able to communicate with loved ones back home.
One more twist the scammer may take is to tell you that he has discovered a large sum of money and he will offer you a large portion of it to take delivery of it, this is much closer to the much older scam refering to Saddam's millions which once did not involve any romantic component, in order for the money to reach you a courier of some kind will need to be paid and this is where the scam victim comes in. Of course the millions the scammer mentions does not exists and any money sent to the "courier' will be lost and gone forever
Of course, scammers will vary their scams and add new twists, the main thing to remember here is that if anybody ever asks you to send them money, even if it seems like its a Soldier, it will be a scam and in this case here, there is absolutely no doubt.
Could you please direct your friend here and show her the information posted here and make sure she understands that it is a scam.
Tell her she needs to stop all communication completely, ignore the scammer, he is no soldier and doesn't deserve any explanation, just ignore him and he will move on eventually.
if she were to reply, anything she were to tell him may help him to be a better scammer so it is very important that she does not mention anything about knowing that its a scam
As always, if you have any questions please ask
Just adding, many soldiers post their pictures on social network sites for family and friends back home, scammers are aware of this and actively look for these pictures to steal as part of their scams. It is extremely unlikely that we will ever be able to find out actually who is in the picture, all we can tell you is that it is not the person writing to you

Hi there,
I too have had numerous photos of this imposter...although I think the one of him in the vehicle is not the same person as the other photos unless he has had botox and a trout pout....look at the mouth the lips are too full compared to the other pictures.
Thanks for confirming to me that this is a scam. I was falling for this person BIG TIME.

Please dont quote entire posts, if you wanted to reply to a small part of a post then quoting is quite ok but please, dont use the quote button un-necessarily, the reply button works fine in most cases - Ralph
Ive posted photos and letters from Brian Ebert on another site that Ralph was once involved with have a look they are probably similar to the ones you recieved. He is still hounding me and still proclaims he wants to marry me.
Apparently he have left the army now....lie number 1,000,000
