And THIS is why this site is here. When lonely divorcee Philip Hunt fell for a beautiful woman on an internet dating site he thought all his prayers had been answered.
She convinced him she was young, fabulously rich and if he could help transfer $2.9million from Nigeria to the UK then they could start a new life together, an inquest heard today.
Unfortunately it was all an elaborate scam that would cost Mr Hunt £82,000 and ultimately his life.
Hessle
The 58-year-old was hooked on the fantasy of a future with the stunning 'Rose' and he willingly paid out tens of thousands of pounds to help her beat malaria and get her funds through customs and into the UK.
The cargo officer remortgaged his house, took out loans, ran up overdrafts and begged for cash from his employers after repeatedly transferring money across to the fraudsters' account.
Eventually he became so hopelessly mired in debt that he committed suicide by lying down in front of a train.
Although warned by a former girlfriend that he was the victim of a 'scam', Mr Hunt appeared to believe in Rose until the very end.
His mobile phone was found in a rucksack near his body and a text message to Rose - which was never sent - read: 'I'm cold, lonely and depressed, I'm so lonely without you tonight. Going to meet my maker..'
Twice-married Mr Hunt went online in search of love after splitting up with girlfriend of three years Lesley Smith.

wow ... just goes to show how scamming is the work of people without conscience.
thanks for posting, Wayne.
there are times when i kinda "miss" my scammer ... but whenever i read posts on this site, i go back to my senses and this site helps me get my feet back on the ground. kinda hard at first ... but reading posts and articles such as these only reminds me that it was all an illusion ... and that if i forget about my scammer and move on, i'll open myself up to real and good people who may just be waiting 'round the bend.
to the people who thought of RS, thanks so much.

Re: Man commits suicide after being scammed.
I was a little upset that I had to read a article half way around the world about a man that commits suicide after falling into ruins because of a low life f------ scammer that has no value of any ones life other than their own to find out about a scammer right around the corner. I soon forgot about my anger after reading the replies to your post (PinkRose) when there were about six. I started to reply but felt that I should wait until I was in a better frame of mind because of the replies that I had read then. That was two days ago and I just went back and read a few more of the replies and can now say that I have found a good reason and location for suicide bombers, something that I could not understand before.
I have said many times that you could be laying in the street dieing and your scammer would rob you, kick you in the head, step right over your and walk away.... If you ever have second thoughts about any of these low life bastards.... http://www.naijapals.com/modules/naijap ... 64.0-.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... heres the link to Pinky's post again with the words right from their own filthy mouths

Re: Man commits suicide after being scammed.
I have just read the Article regarding the sucide about the gentleman who was scammed and then I scrolled down and read OAM's post and read the link naijpals.com and the feedback from Pinky's Posting...I am absolutely numb from the the comments these people wrote and although I have often 'visited' naijpals to have a browse and read some of their forum, I thought the majority people there were against Scammers and Scamming, but sadly alas this does not seem the case in this instance!...How very sad I am to learn this as I do have decent law abiding Nigerian friends both here in the UK and in Nigeria and I am well respected amongst their families.
Sadly though this case draws forth the real resentments and dare I say jealousy and hatred amongst some of the Nigerian people against the Western Society and blaming 'Slavery and Racialism' for their unlawful behaviour - making Scamming perfectly legal to gain justice..its a sad sad world when we are only here on this beautiful Planet for such a short time of our lives that Man cannot live in Peace and Harmony throughout the World!
May RS live on to fight another day in all that they do both in baiting and helping others in need...Godbless

This is just wild and insanely unfortunate...did anybody get caught or in trouble regarding the scammer responsible for toying with the guy?
