VTB: Fraudsters install a malicious virus through WhatsApp

Vtb warns in fraud in connection with the installation of remote - access programs - the Spymax virus by the WhatsApp -Messenger. The attackers pay more attention to different suggestions to install it, to which is in control of being and losing his horny. This program has become the most last month, said Green Vice President of VTB, head of the Digital Business Department Nikita Chugnov.

Fraudsters are submitted by employees of state or commercial organizations, including Mosenergosbyt, clinics, housing and communal services or other state -owneds. Under the guise of checking payment, restoration of access to resources or providing technical assistance, they call potential victims and offer to go to WhatsApp for a video call. Next, the interlocutor is asked to include a screen demonstration, supposedly to solve a technical problem. After this, the victim send a link to download the application, submitting it for the official service, but in fact it is the malicious SPYMAX virus.

Having installed the pseudo-application, the victim involuntarily gives fraudsters full control over their device and access to personal data on the phone. The smartphone screen is blocked, and users can see the inscription "Reloading" or a black screen. While the victim is waiting for the installation of the application, SMS enters the smartphone for entering the service, and the contents with the secret code are displayed on the screen. Attackers use the data obtained to enter the Personal Account to the portal of the State University or a banking application and then make transfers or make loans on behalf of the client.

“A deception, disguised as help, can turn into serious financial problems. While the screen of your phone is blocked, hackers can make anything with its contents anything - including hacking your personal accounts on publications and withdraw money from banking applications. There is no longer any button here. Therefore, the only and most reliable advice - do not talk with strangers and even more so do not accept any links and programs from them. All this is phishing and very dangerous content, ”said Nikita Chugunov.

VTB recalls: not a single official organization requests a screen demonstration, installation of applications through instant messengers or password transfer from personal accounts of banks. For any dubious calls, it is important to call back to the organization.
