Ukrainians have been arrested in large-scale searches in Poland
The suspects extorted money from the victims.
In Poland, police officers conducted a special operation to identify fraudsters. In ten voivodeships, Polish police arrested 21 members of an international organized criminal group involved in phishing scams, including citizens of Ukraine.
This was announced by the Polish Central Office for Combating Cybercrime (CBZC).
The Central Directorate of Cybercrime in Poland has arrested a criminal group specializing in phishing scams.
Its members sent mass SMS messages about the need to pay a surcharge for a package or an electricity bill. Victims of fraudsters followed links that imitated online banking portals.
In this way, criminals gained access to victims' bank accounts from which they stole money and made loans.
In this way, more than 800 people were defrauded of a total amount of more than 2.5 million zloty.
Those detained include Poles as well as citizens of Ukraine and Belarus. During the operations, among other things, bank account contracts, ATM cards and a significant amount of electronic devices - telephones, computers and data storage devices - as well as large amounts of money in Polish and foreign currencies were confiscated.
