A stranger from a dating site convinced a Yoshkarolinka woman to transfer him five million rubles

Two Mari El residents decided to start investing, but their first experiences were not successful. They lost more than seven million rubles. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Mari El writes about this.

A 40-year-old Yoshkarolinka met a man on a dating site. During the conversation, he told her about making money on the trading exchange. The woman became interested in this topic and began to find out more details. The man suggested the Yoshkar Link woman switch to messenger for further communication.

The scammers convinced the Yoshkarolinka woman to buy assets worth 27 thousand to start working. To make a good profit, the woman transferred 868,000 rubles, and then another 795,000 rubles. Within a month, Yoshkarolinka transferred almost 5 million rubles of borrowed money to the fraudsters' accounts. When the attackers asked her to transfer again, she only realized that she had fallen victim to fraudsters.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case for attempted fraud was opened.

A 45-year-old Yoshkarolinka woman was deceived using a similar scheme. She lost almost 2.5 million rubles.

The issue of initiating criminal proceedings is currently being decided.
