Love-Scamming: Man falls for scammers
An initially harmless chat ended for a 57-year-old with high monetary demands. So-called love scammers had wormed their way into the man's trust and cheated him out of several thousand euros.
The Rostocker had met a woman through social networks. The alleged American quickly established a confidential relationship with the man. She stated that she is in the US Army and is currently on a foreign assignment.
The woman asked for money several times because she cannot access her account at the moment. Among other things, the Rostocker should also transfer money to trigger an alleged inheritance. The man paid more and more money into different accounts. When the demands became bolder and supposed lawyers contacted the 57-year-old, he became suspicious and filed a criminal complaint.
