Met him on Tinder. He said he lived in the same state as me. Two days before we were to go on our first date, he received an email from his employer advising him that he had to report to a "flotel" in the North Sea for a four week job. He texted me several times a day. I spoke with him on the phone two times. I did not detect a foreign accent. I became suspicious when a photo he had sent me appeared to be photoshopped. I kept that discovery to myself. He sent me a necklace, which I saw on a website for under $14.00. What finally convinced me that he was a scammer was the day he asked me to buy him a Steam Card because he was having problems using his bank card. I did a more intensive search of his photos which resulted in the discovery that he had been using photos of a man named Brian Haugen. I have cut off all communication with him. I have put a block on his phone number and email address.
