gigi...and any other lady that is involved with this man! Today is November 11 and I last spoke to "James Alex" yesterday! I'm sick to my stomach! I have been talking to him since July! Now I'm 2,500 in debt! I feel so stupid! He even called me his "Last Love" ! He told me that he is working in Nigeria on a large tile contract. He has a friend named Christopher Humes who I have since money grams to...his number is nigeria was 011-234-7037980047. He said that he is now in Manchester England with his sick mother in the hospital. He claims to be a strong Catholic. He has even prayed with me! His number that he gave me in "England" is +447024026220. Here is his last mail to me when I tried to stop communication with him:

I am sorry that this criminal has hurt and stolen from you, unfortunately you are unlikely to be the last.

Please do not make any further contact with him, anything you tell him has a good chance of helping him to understand how you found out that its a scam which would help to make him a better scammer and give him a chance to convince you that he is real.

If you could please share any details you have that are not posted here already with your own details removed it just may save somebody else from being scammed.

Please know that nobody here thinks you are stupid, just vulnerable for a while, read up and share your story and with that will come the experience you need to avoid scams in the future.

You like most of us have been victim of someone taking advantage of your compassionate, trusting, loving heart. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Our inexperience, until we found this site which provides us with the tools to defend ourselves from these scambugs, made us easy targets. It seems that the words "compassionate, loving, caring, spiritual" in our profiles draw these type of guys to us. Of course, I had heard of Internet scammers fooling people for their money using sob stories via e-mail or offering money from fake investments or "favors". Nigerian scams are popular but, and here is the big BUT, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that these people would be so low as to target their victims in dating sites! People who are looking for love, who are lonely, who are ready to share the rest of their lives with that special one! Now, that is a whole new low, as far as I am concerned!

Like you, I am hurt as well. It's not the money that hurts so much, it's the deception, the betrayal! That is what hurts the most. The money . . . well, one can lose money many ways all the time, and it's just a material replaceable thing. However, trust, innocence, belief, love, broken heart . . . that is irreplaceable! It will take me a long time to trust a man I meet online again and, this time, I know not to fall for this web of lies and "instant love" that, fortunately, all these scam artists seem to offer immediately after they connect with you.

Princesslady, don't be hard on yourself. Learn from this experience. Don't get sad or mad, get even! Now, when you come across one of these scambags on a dating site (Match is full of them!), just play along, don't give out any real personal information and definitely do not send them money, get as much info from them as you can and report their asses here and with authorities, when possible! Don't let them know what's coming to them! However, make sure you've done your homework and can be 99.9% sure that you're dealing with a scammer even if you have not been asked for money or any other favor yet. Just keep your guard up and read the red flags.

So, have fun on dating sites and keep safe.

Now, when you come across one of these scambags on a dating site (Match is full of them!), just play along,

This part you need to be careful with.

As soon as you suspect that the person you met online is a scammer, stop all contact immediately
If the information you have given is completely false
If the picture they have seen is not your own
If you dont use that profile for anything other then to write to scammers
And if you have not given the person any real information about yourself

Then play along, other wise, stop all contact immediately

Thanks to each of you for your wonderful words of encouragement. I'm truely thankful for this website. As I write I know that "James" will call tomorrow. But now that I know the truth I will handle it without letting on that I know about him. I just wish that He would be caught. Are there not any laws to protect victims? And is there a law to put scammers behind bars for impersation? Even the person that he used to steal his picture identity? Could he file charges on him? And we as victims could stand with the person whom he stole pictures from? I was just wondering....How many woman that haven't find this site are still contributing to his lifestyle? I honestly believe that the good Lord will not let this continue.

Hi Princesslady,

There are no international laws that govern this sort of thing, and since scammers use internet cafes, finding one would be like trying to nail jello to a wall. Add to that the corruption of government and enforcement officials, and this crime becomes unpunishable.

Now that you know James is a scammer, please delete him, block him, refuse his phone calls and don't reply to his emails. And don't let him know you know he's a scammer. To do so might help him figure out what went wrong and help him to improve his game.

Oh I'm so sorry to heard your story, thanks god I didn't send him money, I didn't give him the chance to ask me money, please don't reply his mails any more, I did that and that's the best weay to stop him.

Looks like I am in some good company my love of my life is named Brian O Connor, same story as Gigi, we probably got the same emails. He last emailed me this morning. We have been emailing since July, everyday talking for hours. I unfortunately gave him money, my own stupidity, hard lesson learned but its only money, still have my life, and my integrity, and what goes around surely does come around, this is the hope I hang on to. Here is what I know and hopefully no one else has to go through what we have, I wish I would have found this site sooner, all my background checking surely had me fooled.
Met Brian on Match and here are the varying email addresses I could figure out. brian4connor@yahoo.com, brian4conner@gmail and connorbrian41@yahoo.com.
He told me he was from St. Paul as well here is the phone number 1-612-454-5401, this is a land line based in St.Paul, number always came up when he called and I called him once and it went through. We talked for 2 months on this.
Now that he is in Malaysia the number he calls me from and texts me from 0060102756017. I could never call him on it, it would say something about not being able to access number but I could always text
He is a single dad, with 12year old daughter Lisa, who lives with his mom while he is Malaysia on pipeline project. He gave me his mom Joanne's phone number 1-203-769-0778, never tried calling it.
He was coming to meet me in Ottawa, while I was there working in October, of course last minute problems on project, he send me electronic ticket copy. I was fooled, at least I did not pay for that.
