This is an update-I was contacted on eHarmony by someone posing as Alan Dave. He told me that to speak in person (via cell phone), I would need to pay money. Needless to say, I am becoming more familiar with the African scams. I ran his pics in Google image search-it is so easy, I learned from watching "Catfish". PLEASE-everyone do this with anyone you "meet" online. It is amazing the things that will be exposed. The pics match the ones in this previous post. Be careful out there, ladies!

This guy is using a new name and it is Jim Paul Pedersen, and he added my 18 year old daughter on Facebook.
She was telling me about him and something just didn't fill right about him so I called 2 of my friends because one of them had the same thing happen two her and the other one I new she would be able to find him in one way or another so she sent me your link and I told my daughter to block him I just wish my other friend could remember the name that he her. He told my daughter that he was in kabul, Iraq n that his wife died 2 years ago and he has 2 kids. This is how I knew there was something wrong because told the same story to my other friend. So I hope by adding this new name to the list it will help someone else.

This man is now using an email address of scottbarnettc@gmail.comand a yahoo messenger contact of scottbarnettc. His profile was on Eharmony, but has been removed. He says he's in Afghanistan, a widower with an 8 yr. old daughter. He's been in the military 24 years. His date of birth is 4/24/1964. He Wanted me to send money to the military telecom department so we could talk. He gave me an email of military.t@consultant.com. I immediately knew he was a fraud. I don't know a lot about the military, but I do know they are provided with access to phones at no charge.
The pictures he used for his profile are some of the same ones, posted under " Col. Pedersen".
Every single day CID receives hundreds of allegations from victims who state they got involved in an online relationship with someone, on a legitimate dating Web site or other social media Web site, who claims to be a U.S. Soldier. The "Soldier" then begins asking for money for various, false service-related needs such as transportation costs, communication fees, marriage, processing and medical fees. Victims of these online scams have lost tens of thousands of dollars, with a very low possibility of recovery.
Criminals committing these scams are from African countries using untraceable email addresses, routing accounts through numerous locations around the world and utilizing pay per hour Internet cyber cafes, which often times maintain no accountability of use.- Many of the negative claims made about the military and the supposed lack of support and services provided to troops overseas are far from reality.
- DON’T EVER SEND MONEY! Be extremely suspicious if you are asked for money for transportation costs, communication fees or marriage processing and medical fees. Use of Western Union .
