He contacted me thru meetup.com in early June, and we continued our conversation via messenger, and since then deleted his meetup account.
On our last chat, he claimed to be in Dubai doing a project until he got into trouble with his pay cheque (see the photo he sent of he bank draft below). Below is his message:
Honey i went to the bank to clear the cheque.but i must meet certain demand.they said that i cant clear such an amount off counter.they said i have to get an affidavit from the court and also open an international business account with them the HSBC bank in other for the cheque to be cleared and payed into the new account..in opening the account,I will need my passport,my passport photograph,affidavit from the sharia court here and also an initial deposit of 5000pounds. now my master card isn't working here.all i have here in cash is 3500 pounds.i want you to help me out with 1,500 pounds.you will send it to me to clear the cheque.then as soon as i clear it.i will pay it back to you even with more interest.i am working hard for us baby,so we can have a good life together.now i need your help and support.don't turn me down.i want you to help me out.i will let you know how you can send it across to me so i can clear the check.
This message of him is the last straw. There has been few inconsistency with his photo/information before this. Such as sending me photos that he said from xxx hotel, but when I looked it up, I can't find anything that looks like the background of his photos
claiming to be renovating Zevenwatch mall in Dubai, but Zevenwatch is in South Africa
Mastercard not working? a businessman with only 1 credit card?
And the photo of the bank draft looks very suspicious...
I am so glad I found this website. I've been scratching my head not knowing where to get help with my confusion about this guy I've been chatting with. I tried google images search using the photos he sent me and finally I got something from the last few photos he sent.
I can't say I'm not disappointed nor slightly heartbroken by this... but for sure I feel like such a fool for believing him...
PS: I asked for his daughter photo, and he sent a photo of a little girl. I'm not sure if I should post it here, so I didn't.
